- Discuss the ethical considerations of using robots to help solve societal challenges
- Reflect on the future role and development of robotics in human society
Who is the course for?
This course is for anyone interested in discovering how our society currently uses robots and how we might use them to solve big challenges in the future. You don’t need any robotics knowledge or experience to join in this course.

None.
Instructors
Peter Corke
Professor of Robotic Vision at QUT and Director of the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision (ACRV). Peter is also an IEEE fellow and on the editorial board of several robotics research journals.
James Sergeant
PhD Candidate with the Australian Centre for Robotic Vision researching towards robust visual object recognition to facilitate useful robotic tasks.
Edward Pepperell
Dr Pepperell completed his PhD in robotic vision at QUT in 2016, with a research focus in vision-based place recognition.
Obadiah Lam
Hello! I'm Obadiah, a sessional academic at Queensland University of Technology. I've taught robotics and control engineering courses and MOOCs, and have worked as a robotic vision researcher at QUT.

Queensland University of Technology, abbreviated as QUT, is a public research university located in the urban coastal city of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. QUT is located on three campuses in the Brisbane area: Gardens Point, Kelvin Grove, and Caboolture. The university has approximately 35,000 undergraduate students and 5,000 post graduate students, of which 6,000 are international students. Platform
FutureLearn is a massive open online course (MOOC) learning platform founded in December 2012.
It is a company launched and wholly owned by The Open University in Milton Keynes, England. It is the first UK-led massive open online course learning platform, and as of March 2015 included 54 UK and international University partners and unlike similar platforms includes four non-university partners: the British Museum, the British Council, the British Library and the National Film and Television School.
