Syllabus

By the end of the course, you'll be able to...

  • Develop confidence among research support professionals in designing, developing and reviewing institutional RDM services
  • Identify the complexities of setting up new service(s) through practical tips, helpful use cases, interactive models, (collaborative) exercises and above all through having the opportunity to learn from experts in the field
  • Develop and build a community that will collectively support each other in the provision of services to support and encourage researchers in data management and sharing best practice, and through this spur innovation and growth
  • Engage with RDNL (NL) and DCC (UK), to provide learners with guidance and training of international remit that can be applied in various contexts, crossing national borders and industries

Prerequisite

This course is for individuals that support researchers to manage and share their data, including librarians, IT and information specialists, data stewards, and research office staff.

Instructors

S Venkataraman
Venkat originally was a biologist, and was also involved in a repository and gained expertise in RDM. He took that knowledge to the DCC to train and advocate best practice across research subjects.

Alex Delipalta
Alex has an MSc in Developmental Linguistics, and 3 years of experience as an RA in speech & language processing. She now provides project support for the Digital Curation Centre.

Sarah Jones
Sarah has over a decade of experience in research data management and open science. She is involved in many international initiatives such as the European Open Science Cloud & Research Data Alliance.

René van Horik
Senior project manager at DANS (NL). Involved in EU projects that work on the implementation of the "European Open Science Cloud".

Ellen Verbakel
Ellen Verbakel is a trained librarian but moved to 4TU.Centre for Research Data where she is now working as a data trainer. Being a coach at the course is a very important part of her daily work.
